You cannot deny people from becoming sports stars."

McKenzie's department has recently concluded its budget vote, which will see R108 million distributed to various sports federations. He highlighted the importance of accountability and effective use of these funds, citing the example of netball, which received R5 million in the last financial year and demonstrated significant progress. "Corporates in South Africa get a lot of flak because they don’t want to sponsor, that is not the case. People want accountability," McKenzie remarked. He assured that the funds would go to those who have shown transparency and a genuine commitment to developing sports.
